Both protest and party, Vancouver Pride celebrates the LGBTQAI2S+ community and their right to be their full selves.  Held annually since 1978, Pride was granted official status by the City of Vancouver in 2013.  Billed as the largest parade of any kind in Western Canada, the 2018 Pride Parade attracted 650,000 visitors.

In 2014 Alan Gignoux joined the Parade as it followed the established route through central downtown Vancouver, beginning on Robson Street at Thurlow Street, continuing through the West End, to finish at the Sunset Beach festival site, where the evening festivities take place.  His photographs record the exuberant diversity of the participants and visitors in this celebration dedicated to the uniqueness of every person.
